The Cansu Arat Group featuring the young musicians Cansu Arat (vocals) , Hedwig Janko (Alto Saxophone), Kirill Kretsu (Piano), Melanie Streitmatter (Bass) and Jacob Wagener (Drums) got together in 2022 during their Jazz Studies in „Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg“. The Group has been playing regularly mostly in German Jazz Clubs but also on known German Jazz Festivals such as ELBJAZZ and Jazz Open Festival. The band toured multiple times in Istanbul and played in the most known Turkish Jazz Clubs such as Nardis Jazz Club and BOVA.

The repertoire of the group is based on known Jazz Vocal Standards. They interpret the pieces in a traditional and modern way that focuses on interplay and bringing individual colors to the sound of the band through their own arrangements.
